Testimonials

My name is Gale Casey. I am a physical education teacher and a former NCAA Division II swimmer. During the summer of 2010 I sought out Rob Maxwell to work with my daughters, local competitive swimmers, who were going into their sophomore and senior years in high school. During our first meeting with Mr. Maxwell I told him that I wanted my girls to improve their core and upper body strength, explosive leg strength and flexibility. The first thing that impressed me about him was that he listened to all of my
ideas. He explained what his plan would be after he assessed my girls. He then developed a fitness plan based on swimming and focused on their weaknesses. During the next four months my girls were not only pushed physically but were educated, also. Mr. Maxwell always explained “the why”. As he built a relationship with them he based their workouts with him on what they were doing in the pool. There have been times when he pushes or backs off depending on how hard the swim practice has been. He even advised me that after the high school swimming season was over that both of my girls needed time off from the pool, especially my senior. Complete faith in his advice, they did not swim for one month. They continued to work out with him, only. OMG! Back in the pool for only seven weeks my senior made four Sr. national cuts, times she had been chasing for two years! Her performances amazed me, she was a different athlete. Forty-eight hours later she was offered a swimming scholarship to the University of Virginia. This past summer she qualified for the 2012 Olympic trials in four events.  As for my younger daughter who is now a junior in high school. She also did all personal bests after her one month break. She has become one of the top swimmers in the state and just became a high school all-American in two events. She is closing on an Olympic trials cut. As a physical education teacher and a former swimmer when it comes to Maxwell’s Fitness Programs, I would not have anyone else train my daughters.

Several years ago my wife first started to see Rob Maxwell for triathlon training which is how I first met him. I remember before he first started to train me I ran a 5K with the suggestion of my wife and I struggled through the entire 3.1 miles. I finished well over 30 minutes. So I decided that I was too overweight and out of shape. My wife told me to go see him. I think I weighed in at the 230’s and I am only 5’10”. With Rob’s food and exercise expertise I lost over 30 pounds and ever several years later I will weigh in the low 200’s to 190’s. Since I lost all the weight and kept it off my focus has been on weightlifting and running. Through his online coaching program workouts last year I ran my fastest 5K ever in 20:45.  I have come a long way with improving my speed. My goal this year in 2006 is to run a 20:00 5K and be in the low 180’s. I will continue to work with Rob to see that goal through. No one in the area can match his experience and knowledge about fitness, weight loss and coaching programs for running, triathlons and duathlons. If you are looking to reach new fitness or weight loss goals I strongly suggest Rob Maxwell.

After I had my first child I set a goal to compete in my first triathlon. I had been running a little, but I was very new to the swimming and long distance biking. Basically, I started from scratch! He developed a very easy to follow workout schedule and was very considerate of the fact that I had to work around my work and child’s schedule. I visited his gym often for weight training and basic bike instruction but we also put together an online training program. Several months later I competed in my first triathlon and did great. I believe I did at least 5 more that year including an Olympic distance triathlon that he pushed me through. I knew that I could finish all of these because I trusted Rob’s expertise and when he said I could do it, I knew I could!

After my second child was born, I decided to do my first marathon! Again, I went right to Rob. We did on line training this time also and again set up a program that I could easily follow and stick to. We did the heart rate testing at his gym first and I was able to focus on keeping my heart rate in the right zone during my training. I traveled to Las Vegas to run my first marathon in December and LOVED IT! I saw so many people dropping out and it was just such a great feeling knowing that I was going to finish because I had trained hard and I was ready.

Rob will help you achieve your goals correctly, safely and efficiently. He is the only trainer around that I am aware of with the expertise to put together the programs that I needed to finish my goals and finish with a smile!

I did my first triathlon in August of 2001 at the coaxing of my best friend.  It was an arduous endeavor but after that experience, I was hooked.  She and I spent the next several months devising our own training plans with the most basic guidelines and lots of speculation.  I remember one training session where we biked 16 miles then ran for 3 miles and we thought we were the bomb.  After our heads deflated and we stopped patting ourselves on the back,  we realized that we needed more structure.  We both sought individualized on-line coaching with Rob Maxwell as a solution.

As a mother of three young children, I needed to make the most of my workout time to achieve my goals.   Rob’s philosophy of “quality over quantity” fit my personality and my lifestyle needs.  Most of my workouts are done before the kids go to school and Rob structures the workouts to promote injury prevention and avoid overtraining issues.

With Rob’s help I have exceeded my own expectations.  My philosophy has always been to do my best and have fun in the process.  In doing my best I saw my personal records improve on a regular basis in both triathlon and road racing.  I’ve also become more competitive in my age group for both sports.  Typically I would finish in the top 25% of my age group but now I am easily in the top 10 %.  Finishing well is something to be proud of but it’s the journey and preparation that I enjoy most.  On that journey I have learned to be mentally and physically confident, I have an understanding of the science behind athletic performance, and I am always learning something new about myself through my successes and failures alike.  Rob’s coaching has been like guideposts on my journey.  I lay out a goal and he prepares me to meet the challenge.

I have discovered a passion for sports that will be with me for a lifetime.   In pursuing this passion I hope to teach my children to have an active and healthy lifestyle, that discipline and hard work pay off, and that they can set their sights high – any goal is  achieveable with the right preparation.
